Blinn Team
The Blinn TEAM (“Transfer Enrollment at A&M”) Program is a collaborative, coenrollment partnership between a major university (Texas A&M) and a community college ( Blinn College ). Each year since 2001 this unique initiative has allowed the admission of additional hundreds of qualified students into the Texas A&M freshman class than would have otherwise been possible due to enrollment management limitations.
Participating students are initially admitted to Texas A&M University on a part-time basis, and may earn full admission by several methods. Blinn TEAM students are enrolled in one academic course at Texas A&M each semester, and the remainder of their courses at the Bryan Campus of Blinn College . Students who complete 45 Blinn credit hours and 15 A&M credit hours within a two-year period, while maintaining a 3.0 grade point ratio at each school, are automatically admitted to Texas A&M. TEAM students who wish to transition to A&M sooner may compete for transfer admission when they meet transfer eligibility. Finally, students who do not transition by the aforementioned methods may fully matriculate via the university’s readmission process after their two year program has concluded.
Blinn TEAM students benefit from enrollment at both institutions; students enjoy the university experience afforded by Texas A&M (such as residence hall life, sports events, and a huge range of student activities), while enjoying the smaller classroom environments and costs of Blinn College . Academic advisors, faculty, and staff at both schools facilitate TEAM student successes. No other program in Texas connects a junior and senior institution in exactly this way.

SCHOLARSHIPS
Rugby Scholarships:
In memory of Anthony "A-Train" Matocha, who tragically died at a young age on July 25, 2004, the Old Maroon RFC has initiated a rugby scholarship, which is aimed to benefit a deserving young rugby player at Texas A&M. This rugby Scholarship will allow a young outstanding player, selected by the Texas A&M R.F.C. and the Old Maroon R.F.C., to help fund their tuition, books and traveling while studying and playing rugby at Texas A&M University
The Lyle Gordon Memorial Scholarship Fund was initiated in the spring of 2005 after the tragic loss of one of our Old Maroon brothers. Throughout his rugby career at Texas A&M Lyle "Smiles" Gordon '97 was an outgoing, funny, but very powerful asset to the team and we are certain he would have fully supported this opportunity for a deserving young rugby player at Texas A&M.
The Gareth Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund was initiated in the winter of 2005 after the tragic loss of one of our brothers, a current player. Even though his rugby career at Texas A&M fell short, Gareth Jones '09 was a superb teammate that was well liked on and off the field. He had the tenacity of a pit bull with a quiet disposition off the field. He never missed a practice or a game and wore the maroon jersey with pride. he was an asset to the team in more ways than one and we are certain he would have fully supported this opportunity for a deserving young rugby player at Texas A&M.

The Woodlands R.FC, a premier Texas men's club, has initiated a $1000 rugby scholarship at Texas A&M, which is aimed to benefit the best young rugby players in Texas. This scholarship is in memory of John and David Cherrybone. John was and inaugural funding member of the Woodlands in 1983 and played for the club until his mid-fifties. During his playing career and in his retirement he played a prominent part in recruiting players to the Woodlands club and continued to do so even when his family moved to Midland. John passed away in 2006 after long battle with cancer. David Cherrbyone, John's son, who tragically died at a young age in 2002, throughout his playing career with the Woodlands and the Austin Huns, was a tremendous supporter of and recruiter for the Woodlands R.F.C and we are certain that both he and his father would have fully supported this opportunity for a Texas A&M student. |

The Dallas Harlequins are one of the premier rugby clubs in Texas and they are committed to supporting premier college rugby clubs, such as Texas A&M, by providing a scholarship to a deserving player. Many Texas A&M players have passed through the ranks of the Dallas Harlequins R.F.C. in the past 30 years.

To assist in out-of-state tuition, books and traveling costs, Texas A&M has initiated it's own rugby scholarships. Funds donated by Old Maroon R.F.C, family, friends, and supporters go into a scholarship account and they are awarded every, or every other semester depending on available funds.
